Weather observation.
Longitudinal observation — recording data over time — trains pattern-recognition and data literacy skills that are otherwise very difficult to teach abstractly. Students who maintain daily records develop a scientist's habit of noticing, before being taught what to notice.
1. Look outside. 2. Draw weather. 3. Do daily. 4. Count each type.
