Atomic structure.
Three-dimensional model-building of atomic structure creates spatial encoding of a concept that is otherwise entirely abstract. Students who build atom models consistently outperform those who study diagrams on tasks requiring them to predict electron behaviour.
1. Cut cardboard circles. 2. Mark nucleus. 3. Add electron shells. 4. Place electrons.
